Tips for a great painting result

Choose a paint type

1. Select a surface type before you begin. Matte, glossy or semi-glossy paint – all have their pros and cons. Glossy paints are more durable and easier to clean. However, if your walls are not completely perfect, the glossy color will highlight all the shortcomings of the wall. Matte paint will hide several flaws, but it will be almost impossible to maintain. Partially matte paint is the “golden mean” in many cases.

Choose your favorite color shade

2. Don’t be afraid, choose colors, don’t leave your room white. Colors will give your room space and image. By choosing the right colors, a monotonous space can be turned into an interesting place. If you have chosen the wrong color, don’t worry – you can repaint it someday!

Check before you painting

3. Small trials allow you to avoid “big” surprises. It is not easy to say what each color will look like on your wall with a small sample of paper. For this purpose, stores offer the opportunity to mix the color with the appropriate shade in a 0.5 l or 1 l can.

Take time to prepare

4. Be prepared to take the time to prepare. About 80% of your time will be spent on preparations. Contrary to popular stereotype, the paint will not hide the imperfections of your wall. Make all preparations to make the walls as smooth as possible and ensure they are clean. Any dust or stains left on the wall may cause the paint to peel off later.

Surface preparation

5. Priming. For any painting to be of good quality, priming is especially important. The primer covers the entire wall surface and provides a base for the paint. The primer allows the paint to adhere more firmly to the surface. If you have done any putty work before painting, the primer will ensure that the paint remains on the surface and does not soak into the putty and create stains.

Paint the “difficult” areas at the beginning

6. Do not rush to paint the whole wall at once. Before painting the wall with a roller, carefully paint all edges and corners with a brush. When using the roller after painting with a brush, the paint will spread more evenly and hide the streaks left by the brush.

Cover floors and other surfaces

7.Before painting, carefully cover up all the slats and edges so that they are not accidentally painted. When rolling the paint, the roller will throw a lot of small drops of paint on the surrounding surfaces and then it will be impossible to clean them.

Painting easily and quickly

8. Don’t overdo it. To facilitate painting, it is recommended to use an extended shank of the roller, which can be removed when painting is nearby. This will save you time spent climbing up and down stairs, as well as moving stairs every meter along the wall.

Prepare the paint properly

9. Mixing all the paint together will not have to deal with stains. The color mixer is connected to a computer and looks like high technology, but even the best color mixers can mix slightly different tones for one color. However, you will not want two different shades on your wall. This mistake can be easily avoided by mixing the paint from all the cans in one bucket. This will give you one shade for the whole room.
